SCAD X MICHAEL TIRADO SOCIAL MEDIA PROMO

Concept

This short social media piece was commissioned by SCAD to showcase the work of a shoe designer Michael Tirado. The shoe is inspired by the ocean and liquid, wave motion. This piece expands on that two ways: through the symbolic use of waves and water imagery and the showcasing of material, paint as a fluid, liquid medium.

PRocess

I created loops from photos I was sent of the shoe from different angles in order to spin and rotate it in different ways. I created frames of animation in a very light greyscale and then, after printing them out, painted over them with acrylic paint. Stop motion scans of the shoe were taken by cutting out and folding the shoe back for that segment of the piece.
